Mineral Crystal Watches

Mineral crystal is probably the most widely used crystal for wristwatches. It is seven times harder than the cheaper plastic crystal and can be exchanged relatively cheaply compared to the much more expensive sapphire crystal. It is therefore used in most watches from the middle price segment. The glass crystals are first heated or chemically treated. The result is a composite that has a very high hardness and scratch resistance. Unlike sapphire crystal, mineral crystal can break or splinter, but only under extreme conditions. Especially designer brands preferably go for mineral crystal for their watches because of the cheap repair options in combination with the high durability.
