Junghans has been making history for over 150 years as a manufacturer of high-quality watches. A special success story is associated with the name Junghans and the development of radio control technology for wristwatches. Because in the field of radio-controlled watches, Junghans has indeed achieved great things over the past few decades – for example, around 30 years ago with the "Mega 1", the world's first radio-controlled wristwatch ever. As with all Junghans watches, lovers of innovative multi-frequency radio-controlled movements with a solar drive, of course, can look forward to outstanding quality "Made in Germany" in terms of design and workmanship.
There are individual terms that can tell a whole, long story. The compound word "multi-frequency radio-controlled solar movement" is such a term. Because this one, admittedly rather bulky term, vividly illustrates again – in a very concentrated form – the complete technological development of the last decades in the field of radio technology for wristwatches. And the numerous innovations in this area are especially linked to the name Junghans.
After the company had already developed the world's first radio-controlled table clock in the 1980s, the first radio-controlled watch of all time followed in 1990 – the famous "Mega 1". In 1995, the revolutionary "Mega Solar Ceramic", a radio-controlled watch with a ceramic case and powered by ecological solar cells, was built. In 2004, Junghans was finally able to patent a multi-frequency radio-controlled movement for wristwatches, which then could receive their time signal not only in Europe, but also in Japan and North America.
In the 1990s, the combination of environmentally friendly solar technology and radio control technology in itself was a real milestone in the technological development. But the provisional ultimate climax of progress was achieved in 2011, when the Junghans engineers managed to built the first multi-frequency radio-controlled quartz movement into a solar watch.
The advantages of Junghans radio-controlled wristwatches carrying model names such as "Milano", "Anytime Milano", "Milano Mega Solar", "Force", "Spektrum", "Spektrum Mega Solar" or "Voyager" are obvious. On the one hand, as solar watches they save valuable natural resources with their impeccable environmental friendliness. On the other hand, as radio-controlled watches, they always ensure an absolutely accurate time display, especially with the most comfortable and extremely precise multi-frequency movements – on up to three different continents.
